Help build the mesh.
People and organizations can support West Michigan Mesh in different ways: testing radios, mapping coverage, hosting useful sites, teaching new users, or helping with gear and field-ready builds.
For individuals and volunteers
Small hands-on contributions make the network more useful.
- Carry or test a MeshCore device so we can learn where the network works and where coverage is weak.
- Help map coverage across neighborhoods, community spaces, event sites, and likely shelter locations.
- Help with solar and battery builds, weatherproof enclosures, antennas, mounts, documentation, or user support.
- Help teach new users how to send messages, charge devices, check in, and use the network during an outage.
- Donate or sponsor equipment such as radios, batteries, solar parts, antennas, mounts, or weatherproof enclosures.
For organizations and partner sites
Useful locations can make a real coverage difference.
- Host a repeater at a useful location. A house on a hill, community building, tower, or tall apartment building can make a real difference.
- Provide roof, window, or indoor placement access for a small radio node.
- Allow signal coverage testing around the location.
- Offer meeting space for setup or training sessions.
- Provide a location people already know and trust during an emergency.
Partner sites do not need to operate the whole network, provide public internet access, or connect equipment to a private network. A repeater can be configured as a standalone radio node.
